Fiercely independent but impossibly relatable, Melissa Livingstone is shining a bright light in Canadian country music – one confident beat at a time.

Born into a musical family and growing up with the sounds of Dolly Parton, The Eagles, Amy Grant, Randy Travis, and Paul Brandt, Melissa Livingstone started singing at the age of 3 and proudly announced two years later that she was going to be a singer.

Melissa’s love affair with music took on a much greater personal meaning in her most formative years. After her father passed away when she was 13, she began to use songwriting as part of her healing process. As a result, music and lyrics became a means for Melissa to share a variety of additional life experiences on her way towards young adulthood.

Initially drawn to folk music and writing about her hometown of Ucluelet, British Columbia, Melissa Livingstone explored writing and performing in school plays and musicals before moving to Kelowna, BC at age 17. She also traded the folk genre for country music because of its storytelling nature, strong sense of community, and high degree of fun.

Two years later, Melissa Livingstone was attending school in a castle in Carnforth, England – part of a European adventure that took her to 7 different countries – when a classmate’s introduction put her in touch with producer Matt Roach. This introduction eventually led to the recording of 2014’s Simple Girl, Melissa’s debut album, and inspired her to pursue country music as a professional recording artist and performer.

After her debut radio single releases of “Camouflage” (2016) and “My Town” (2017), Melissa Livingstone earned her greatest acclaim and exposure to date in 2018 by winning the chance to play at Denim on the Diamond in Kelowna and making it to the championship round of the Road to Rockin’ Riverfest contest.

Displaying a lively attitude on stage that meshes perfectly with her naturally bubbly nature, Melissa followed these shows up with a pair of showcases at the 2018 Canadian Country Music Association’s Country Music Week in Hamilton and as a finalist in the 2019 Breakthrough Country Music Project. She will build on her newfound success with the release of her next single, “Wrong Number”, in June of 2019.

Outside of music, Melissa remains an enthusiastic international traveller and is also an avid motorcyclist and a devoted animal lover.
